Another stride in our eGovernment Online services! Similar to how the Inland Revenue document submissions occur, VAT submissions now follow suit. Basically the user needs to register for a digital certificate through the Passport Office in Valletta and a private "electronic key" will be created for specific computers to ensure total security whenever transactions are carried out through the mygov.mt website.

Businessmen will have the luxury of monitoring and settling all their VAT issues from the comfort of their home or office after a major security upgrade to the government's online service.
The article also talks about what's in the pipeline - ID Cards embedded with electronics chips - envisaged to be among us by end of 2008.
